Love Story
Some love stories begin with grand gestures.
Ours began with coffee, a bowl of soto, and a rainy afternoon.
What started as a simple conversation at a café quickly turned into sharing a meal together. As the rain poured outside, we discovered something unexpectedly important: we both loved coffee, we both loved soto, and most importantly, we both loved meaningful conversations. Looking back, it felt as though the universe was quietly introducing us to someone we had been waiting for all along.
On our second meeting, Dutti did something unusual, she invited Alfian to meet her closest friends in Bali.
For Dutti, these people were much more than friends; they were family away from home. Without hesitation, Alfian said yes. He showed up, joined every conversation naturally, laughed with everyone, and made himself part of the group. Watching that happen meant more to Dutti than words could ever explain.
As days turned into weeks, our conversations only grew deeper. We talked about politics, religion, music, books, history, random facts, and everything in between. Sometimes we shared the same opinions, sometimes we challenged each other, but every conversation brought us closer. Somewhere between those endless discussions, we realized we had found not only a partner, but also a best friend.
Then came the moments that truly touched our hearts.
For Alfian, one of those moments was discovering Dutti’s consistency in praying Dhuha. It reflected the faith, values, and character he had always hoped to find in a life partner.
For Dutti, one of the most meaningful moments was praying behind Alfian as her imam, listening to his beautiful recitation. In that simple moment, she found a sense of peace, comfort, and certainty that was difficult to put into words.
From the very beginning, we were honest about our intentions. We were not looking for something temporary. We shared the same vision, the same values, and the same dream of building a life centered on faith, love, and purpose.
So after only three months together, we made a decision that may seem fast to some, but felt completely right to us. Because sometimes, the right person doesn’t leave you wondering. They bring clarity.
And when you know, you know.
Today, with grateful hearts, we are excited to begin the next chapter of our journey, not just as Dutti and Alfian, but as husband and wife, best friends, and lifelong partners.
And yes, we still believe the coffee and soto had something to do with it.
